My Top 3 Moisturisers/Primers

So, what is a primer?

A primer is a product that is used to help prep the skin and provide a smooth base, for foundation application and therefore ensuring your makeup lasts all day/night.

I'm always asked to recommend a great primer to suit certain skin types, and while there are so many fab skin-specific ones out there, I thought I would share my Top 3 that I found suit all skin types. These 3 primers work perfectly under foundation and really do their job in helping your makeup LAST!

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base

Not only is this an amazing moisturiser AND primer, it is packed with vitamins & skin loving ingredients to help plump and hydrate the skin. It has vitamin B, C & E which will not only nourish the skin but also help with the condition of your skin. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid, HELLO HYDRATION! Squalane, which will help lock that moisture in and Shea Butter. It is such a beautiful rich, creamy formula and also absorbs quickly, which is perfect if you're like me and often in a rush! If all of that isn't enough, it smell devine too. The scent was actually something I worried about at first as I have sensitive areas on my face & some scented products can irritate it, but my skin loves it! It acts like a magnet under foundation and will help it last all day while keeping your skin hydrated and plump.

Illamasqua Hydra Veil Primer

OH MY GOD!

This primer is an absolute gem of a product. It's a gel formula and is super hydrating & lightweight. It is literally like a drink for the skin. It comes with a scooping spoon to decant the product hygienically. Hydra Veil also contains vitamins -YAY- and its plant extracts provide an instant cooling effect when applied. It helps with skin texture too and its amazing ingredient Niacinamide will help minimise the appearance of enlarged pores. It really does smoothen out the skin providing the perfect base for foundation application. I like to apply it with my fingers & give it about 2 minutes before applying foundation. Hydra Veil is like a grip for your foundation & will ensure your makeup lasts all day and night. I particularly love it paired with Illamasqua Skin Base foundation, these two products together are perfection.

Embryolisse Lait - Creme Concentre

Embryolisse is a true multitasker and can be used for various different requirements. As a primer, moisturiser, hydrating mask, the list goes on. This is a staple in my personal and professional makeup kit and is suitable for all skin types. Embryolisse is packed with essential fatty acids & vitamins which help keep the skin super hydrated. I love to use it as a moisturiser and a primer in one! I also reach for it when my skin is feeling dry, I apply a thick layer at night & sleep in it. Or, if I have a day when I know I'm staying in, I apply a generous layer of it after my morning cleanse and wash it off that night. When I do this, my skin always feels so hydrated and glowy. A little goes a long way with this product so keep that in mind when applying it. I apply it with my fingers and really work it into the skin, gently massaging it in. I let this soak into my skin for a good 5-10 minutes before applying foundation. It leaves a lovely satin finish on the skin providing a beautiful, hydrated base for foundation application.
